Manuel Pellegrini admits it’s frustrating for him to have to go into most of the games in the ongoing season without his vital senior players, but, he is pleased with the fact that the others have stepped up to the plate and have not let the club suffer.

In spite of all the injury setbacks, City sits at the top of the League standings having secured 29 points.

Apart from that, they have been able to make the quarter finals in Europe and Round of 4 in the domestic cup competition.  So, they are in contention for all the titles at the moment, and are fancied for a fair few of them by the pundits at himmelspill.com.

Manuel Pellegrini reckons the teams in Group D are not that far apart from one another in terms of quality and at the moment, it’s quite hard to make the prediction which two would be able to make their way into the pre quarter finals.

The four teams which are slotted in Group D in the Champions League 2015-16 are Juventus, Sevilla, Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach. City had suffered a defeat at the hands of Juventus in their first game, but, made a comeback by getting better of Monchengladbach earlier this week.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini reckons that their fiercest rivals, Manchester United, can certainly do without the services of captain Wayne Rooney.

The 28-year-old has missed the last three matches due to suspension after picking up a straight red card against West Ham. He was seen limping at an event a few days ago, but Louis van Gaal is set to confirm that Rooney will participate in the Manchester derby. For the moment, his participation remains in doubt, but Pellegrini reckons that this is unlikely to be a major loss for United. Continue reading
