Manuel Pellegrini dont expect much investment in January Transfer

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini says that he does not expect to the club to spend much in the January transfer window due to restrictions from UEFA.

The club were found guilty of not complying with the financial fair play regulations. Several restrictions have been imposed on the club for this campaign. They were heavily impacted by this even during the summer when the club brought in only a few top names like Mangala. Pellegrini does not expect this to change in January even though the club have been linked with many players like Wilfried Bony.

Instead of signing new players, Pellegrini is set to concentrate on keeping the players at the club. This includes names like Scott Sinclair, who have been linked with an exit. Frank Lampard joined the club on a six-month loan deal back in the summer, but it now looks set to be extended until the end of the campaign. This will be vital given that Yaya Touré will be leaving for the Africa Cup of Nations. City are only three points behind Chelsea in the title race after 19 games. City have dropped some cheap points against the likes of Stoke City and Burnley. Pellegrini will be keen to avoid this in the New Year.

“No, I don’t think we will be busy. We have restrictions on money.I hope we start the New Year winning three points. [Sunderland are] a good team with a good manager. They have strong players. In general, [2014] has been successful. We have the next five months now to continue to improve the way we play,” said Pellegrini. Manchester City are home to Sunderland on New Year’s Day. This completes a run of relatively easy fixtures for the team. They’re up against the likes of Everton, Arsenal, and Chelsea in the next few weeks.
