Roberto Martinez fancies Manchester City in the Premier League title race
Belgium head coach Roberto Martinez believes Manchester City have the advantage over Liverpool in the race for the Premier League title. Both teams have gone head-to-head for the English crown this term but Martinez feels the Citizens have the edge with the unpredictability in terms of the goalscorers.

“Liverpool have been exceptional with their front three, but with the level of scrutiny now with all games being prepared down to detail, it seems that everyone prepares for that front three. If you stop Salah or Salah has an off day, Liverpool find it very difficult to score that first goal. So you feel that Liverpool need to find another avenue to become unpredictable and that Manchester City are ahead in that respect.”
Jurgen Klopp’s side were five points ahead of Manchester City at the top at the end of January, but they have since gone through a tough patch with three draws and two wins which has played into the hands of the holders. The Citizens’ five-match winning league streak sees them with a slender one-point lead over the Reds and they are now assured of the title, provided they can continue the victorious streak for the remaining nine matches.
Manchester City have a home game against Watford on Saturday and they have the opportunity to pile the pressure on Liverpool, given the Reds don’t feature until the day after. Jurgen Klopp’s side are scheduled to face Burnley during Sunday’s early kick-off at Anfield.
