Pep wants Alcantara
Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara has been linked with a move to Manchester City in recent weeks and this does not come as a major surprise given that the club recently announced Pep Guardiola as the new manager.

However, the midfielder stated his desire to remain at the Allianz Arena despite seeing his favourite manager jump ship after just three years in German football. Guardiola came to Bayern in the summer of 2013 on a three-year contract. His failure to win the Champions League in the last two seasons has been seen as a major factor in Guardiola deciding to renew his contract.
Unlike Guardiola, Thiago has a contract with Bayern Munich for three more years. This puts the German club at a strong position when it comes to negotiating a potential transfer. Only recently, Thiago spoke about the possibility of returning to Barcelona in the future and he refused to rule out such a move, prompting some betting sites to make him the favourite to be moving on as soon as Pep hands over the keys to the Allianz Arena.
“There are always a lot of rumours. It’s a fact that Guardiola is joining Manchester City and we have to respect that. But there is no truth in the rumours saying I will follow him. I would not have signed a new contract had I wanted to leave the club. I extended my contract for a reason. I am loving life here in Munich. I am enjoying the city and life here in general,” said Thiago. Due to recurring injury problems, Thiago has been able to make only nine starts in the league.
