NO DERBY ADVANTAGE FOR MAN CITY

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has shut down the suggestion that his team has an advantage over city rivals Manchester United ahead of their Premier League clash next weekend. Several football stakeholders have suggested that Manchester City have a good chance of picking up the three points ahead of hosts Manchester United as they don’t have to deal with a strong Champions League fixture in midweek before their game at the weekend.

Manchester United will host Manchester City in the first Manchester Derby clash of this Premier League campaign at Old Trafford on Saturday. Ahead of the game, Manchester City don’t have the burden of trying to secure their place in the knockout stage of the Champions League like what’s obtainable with their city rivals.

In his latest interview at the weekend, Pep Guardiola told reporters that they don’t have any undue advantage since they are already assured of a place in the last 16 of the Champions League. According to him, the players would be up for the derby as he added that they won’t be tired.

In Group H, Manchester United have work to do ahead of their final group game at the home of German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig. A draw from that game would be enough to take the Red Devils to the Champions League last 16, while the Citizens arealready qualified as group winners from Group C ahead of the home game with French Ligue 1 giants Marseille for their final group game.

Both Manchester clubs have league form heading into the derby at the Theatre of Dreams next weekend. Hosts Manchester United have recovered from a poor start to record four consecutive wins in the league, while Manchester City have won the last two league games since the 2-0 loss at Spurs.
