CITY TAKE BIG STEP TOWARDS TITLE
It’s increasingly looking like Premier League champions Manchester City will win the English top flight league for the second successive season after they increased their lead over Chelsea and Liverpool at the Premier League summit. For the latest set of games in the Premier League, Manchester City picked up the maximum points while their rivals Chelsea and Liverpool dropped points in their own games.
For the latest Manchester City game, they needed young England player Phil Foden to come up with the goods. His goal in the 16th minute gave the Citizens all three points at the expense of Brentford. Belgian international Kevin De Bruyne was the man responsible for the assist. The slim win over the Bees ensured that Manchester City took their winning run to ten games. The Citizens finished the year by winning all their Premier League encounters in the final two months. Their last dropped points was the home game against Crystal Palace which ended in a 2-0 defeat with goals from the duo of WilfriedZaha and young midfielder Conor Gallagher. Gallagher is on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea at Selhurst Park.
For their own latest game, Chelsea were denied victory by a late goal from Danny Welbeck as Brighton and Hove Albion were able to secure an impressive 1-1 draw away from home. On their part, Liverpool failed to score for the first time this season in a 1-0 loss to hosts Leicester City.
