CITY SET TO RETURN TO WINNING WAYS
Premier League leaders Manchester City are expected to return to victory ways when they entertain Southampton in a rescheduled Premier League clash on Wednesday night after the disappointments of the Manchester Derby at the weekend. Manchester City are the overwhelming favourites to beat Southampton and extend their lead at the top of the Premier League standings. Manchester City had been on a sensational winning run spanning 21 games before they played hosts to city rivals Manchester United at the weekend. At the end of proceedings at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening, Manchester City lost their 21-match winning run following the 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Red Devils.

Manchester City never really recovered from that early setback. Manchester United scored their second goal at the start of the second half through the impressive Luke Shaw. With the win, Manchester United were able to cut the lead at the top of the table to 11 points. Manchester City and Manchester United are in first and second positions on the Premier League table at the moment. Manchester City can move 14 points clear of Manchester United if they beat Southampton at home on Wednesday night. On their part, Southampton ended a run of nine games without a win with the 2-0 away win over bottom team Sheffield United and they will have their work cut out when they travel to Manchester to face a wounded Manchester City team.
