CITY SET TO CONTINUE WINNING RUN

Manchester City are one of the most in-form teams in European football after winning their last five games in all competitions. They can make it six wins on the bounce when they entertain Birmingham City from the second tier of English football. Manchester City will face Birmingham City this weekend on the back of a good win over Manchester United in their Manchester Derby clash in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night. Manchester City saw off their city rivals to book their place in the Carabao Cup final. John Stones and Fernandinho were the unlikely scorers for the Citizens during their Carabao Cup last four game at the home of Manchester United earlier this week.

Apart from Manchester United, Manchester City also beat Arsenal 4-1 away from home in the same Carabao Cup competition during this current victory run in addition to league wins at Southampton, at home to Newcastle United and at Chelsea. Birmingham City have their work cut out against Manchester City who have a very good record in the FA Cup. They have won 10 of their last 11 fixtures in the competition with the only exception coming last season during the FA Cup last four meeting with Arsenal at the Wembley Stadium. Arsenal skipper Pierre-EmerickAubameyang hit a brace either side of the halftime interval to lead the Gunners to an unlikely 2-0 win over Manchester City who were the defending champions of the competition at that point. Arsenal went on to replace Manchester City as the reigning FA Cup champion by beating 10-man Chelsea in the final.

Manchester City have won the FA Cup on six occasions but their third round opponents Birmingham City are yet to taste success in the competition though the midlands club reached two finals and ended up on the losing side. They lost to West Brom and Manchester City in 1931 and 1956 respectively.
