City aiming to complete more deals
It would be an understatement to say that Manchester City have been incredibly quiet in the transfer window, with Roberto Mancini managing to wrap up just one piece of business up until now. However, on transfer deadline day that all looks set to change, with Mancini aiming to bring at least four other players into the Etihad Stadium in big money deals.
There has been plenty of speculation regarding the first player this week, with Fiorentina’s Matija Nastasic set to join in a deal worth £12m. As part of the transfer, defender Stefan Savic will move in the opposite direction.
City also look set to conclude a deal for Scott Sinclair, in another transfer that is hardly surprising. There has been intense speculation surrounding this move for the past couple of weeks and after Swansea accepted a £6.2m bid earlier this week, the former Chelsea forward is all but certain to be unveiled at the Etihad Stadium later today.
However, it is undoubtedly the final two rumours that will prove most surprising for supporters. Firstly, Inter Milan defender Maicon looks set to join in a deal worth £5m, with Mancini supposedly looking to conclude this deal as he looks for cover for Pablo Zabeleta. However, the potential acquisition of Benfica’s Javi Garcia looks set to be the buy of the summer, with the midfielder linked with a £24m move to the Etihad Stadium. Sources are claiming that Mancini has gone for the former Real Madrid man after fellow-target Daniele de Rossi revealed that he didn’t want to leave current club Roma.
The press seem very sure that all four players will arrive at the club prior to the deadline, meaning that Mancini will have an extremely bolstered squad ahead of this weekend’s game against QPR. The news will certainly come as very welcome to fans, who were concerned that the club were lagging behind their rivals following such a lack of activity.
