AGUERO WANTS INDEPENDIENTE FINISH

Sergio Aguero wants to go back to Independiente when he’s out of contract at the Etihad Stadium – the Argentinean Football club which Aguero had joined as a kid. He came through their youth system and later went to play for them at the senior level for a couple of seasons before he decided to move away to ply his trade abroad.

As far as his time in England is concerned, the striker has proved to be one of the most successful players in the country since coming here in 2011. He has already completed a century of goals in Barclays Premier League which is no mean achievement.

But, Aguero has no intentions of finishing his playing career in England. The Argentina international’s current deal at Etihad runs till 2019 and he would not be extending it any further than that. Aguero was recently quoted as saying, “Once I am done at City, I would like to be in Argentina playing for Independiente again.”

Aguero will forever be remembered for his late, late match-winning goal that won Manchester City the title with just seconds to go (incidentally one of the best live bets I ever placed on StanJames!)

“I’ve already stated several times that Independiente has a special place in my heart and I believe I should get back there with my body still capable of putting on good performances. There is no point returning in the late thirties or at a time when I can’t produce the goods consistently.”

“In my view, thirty one would be the perfect age. So, if nothing goes drastically wrong from here on in, I see myself back in the El Rojo colours four years from now.”

Independiente has become the Champions in Argentinean top flight Football on 16 occasions in total, but, in the last one decade or so, they have not quite managed to be the same sort of force. They finished no. 5 in the standings in 2015 Primera Division.
