AGUERO WANTS INDEPENDIENTE FINISH

Sergio Aguero wants to go back to Independiente when he’s out of contract at the Etihad Stadium – the Argentinean Football club which Aguero had joined as a kid. He came through their youth system and later went to play for them at the senior level for a couple of seasons before he decided to move away to ply his trade abroad.

As far as his time in England is concerned, the striker has proved to be one of the most successful players in the country since coming here in 2011. He has already completed a century of goals in Barclays Premier League which is no mean achievement.

WILL CITY MISS AGUERO?

Losing Sergio Aguero to injury is believed to be a massive blow for City, but, if you look at the numbers, they suggest something else – City have not actually missed the services of the star striker that much when he hasn’t been available to play.

Since the summer of 2011 when Aguero joined in, the winning % of City with the Argentinean being in the side is 62 which is less if compared to the winning % when he has been out of the side. Continue reading

AGUERO PRAISED

The manager of Manchester City, Manuel Pellegrini, has lauded Sergio Aguero for the way he performed in his comeback game against Blackburn Rovers yesterday. The 25 years old player didn’t start the game, but, he came on as a substitute in the latter half and found the net once to help his team increase the margin of victory. City eventually won the match by 5-0.

Aguero was sent onto the pitch with 20 odd minutes remaining in the match and he looked completely comfortable while being out there. There was fluency in his movement and he seemed to be in the same kind of rhythm that he had shown in the first half of the season.

It’s great news for City especially with some difficult weeks coming up. The Sky Blues have to play a couple of important cup games in the next 10 days or so and then, they will take on top teams like Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea in the league.

Talking to the reporters in the press conference after the match against Blackburn Rovers, Pellegrini said, “The important thing for me is the time that Sergio spent out there. There was no clumsiness in his play and he scored too which would boost his confidence.”

“There are some tough matches coming up. So, having Sergio back fit is fantastic for us.”

However, apart from Aguero, a couple of other City players also performed brilliantly in that game against Blackburn. Those two players were Edin Dzeko and Alvaro Negredo. Both of them struck twice.

Four out of the five goals in the match were scored in the second half and it shows that the Rovers did not give City that many chances in the initial parts of the game. However, as the game went on, the visitors fell apart.

Worries over Aguero injury

Even though City were taking part in their first game of the season, most supporters were more worried about the condition of Sergio Aguero during the opening periods of the Southampton game. The former Atletico Madrid striker was forced off with a knee problem after just eight minutes and Roberto Mancini claims that the club don’t yet know the extent of the injury and will have to wait two days for a scan.
