Manchester City winning chances of Premier League still Alive

Manchester City’s chances of winning the Premier League have stayed alive in a large part thanks to the sensational season and form that Sergio Aguero is going through but not even the Argentine attacker has been able to do much to stop Manchester City from sinking in the lower spots of their group in the Champions League.

The Champions League is starting to look like a title that might just be too far away from the hands of Manchester City at least in this season after the Premier League club lost against Bayern Munich and later drew with As.Roma and CSKA Moscow.

On October 21 of the current year, Manchester City had to travel to the Arena Khimki in Russia in order to face off with CSKA Moscow and the match finished in a 2-2 draw. Taking into consideration that Manchester City was playing in a completely different stadium and temperature than usual, a draw was not such a disastrous result for the team of Manuel Pellegrini.

15 days later and Manchester City played against CSKA Moscow but this time it was played on the home turf of the Premier League club at the Etihad Stadium and City was in dying need of a victory in order to keep their hopes of advancing past the group stages of the Champions League but the English club lost 2-1.

Even the coach himself has been left baffled and shocked by the surprising string of results that his squad of players have been picking up as Manuel Pellegrini said:

“All of them are important players so I don’t understand why they cannot play in the Champions League, but we must review a lot of things to understand why it was such a low performance’’

The chances of Manchester City advancing through the group stages of the Champions League is extremely difficult with only 2 matches left to be played, City will be facing off against Bayern Munich and As.Roma and they will need to claim victories against both in order to have any chance of progressing through Group E.
