Dzeko denies exit reports

Despite joining in a huge £27m deal last year, there has been plenty of speculation surrounding the future of Edin Dzeko this summer. However, even though recent reports have been linking him with a move to Milan, Dzeko claims that he has not had any discussions over a possible move away from the Etihad Stadium and is fully focussed on the forthcoming campaign at City.

Having struggled to make an impact in the City first team last season, there has been many reports linking the Bosnian striker with a switch away from the club. These rumours intensified last week, after Dzeko’s agent, a man named Sead Susic, supposedly claimed that talks with AC Milan were progressing well. However, it now appears as though no such vibes came from the Dzeko camp, with the individual who made the comments actually having nothing to do with the forward.

The former Wolfsburg man said, “My agent is Irfan Redzepagic and neither of us are pushing for my departure from City. I’m only focused on Manchester City and I do not care about media speculation, especially when it comes from people who have nothing to do with me. After new speculation about my departure from City and the statements of individuals, who are talking like they are my agent, I would like to inform the public that I have not had any negotiations with Milan.”

As well as Dzeko categorically denying the rumours, Manchester City also released a statement that suggested that they had no idea who Sead Susic was either. However, despite these comments, many City fans will still be doubtful on the future of the 26-year-old. He is generally behind the likes of Carlos Tevez, Mario Balotelli and Sergio Aguero in the pecking order and with the Financial Fair Play Regulations set to come into the game, Roberto Mancini may decide that the best option is to sell.
